Inventory Reorder Alerts for Auto Parts Distributor
PartsPro DistributionPublished May 27, 2026
The Challenge
PartsPro tracked inventory in spreadsheets but had no automated reorder system. The warehouse manager would do a manual count every Friday and place orders based on gut feel. Stockouts on popular parts happened 2–3 times per month, causing lost sales and frustrated customers. Overstocking on slow-moving parts tied up $40K+ in unnecessary inventory.
The Solution
We added reorder-point logic directly in their existing Google Sheets setup. Each SKU now has a minimum threshold based on 90-day sales velocity. When stock dips below the threshold, Zapier fires an SMS alert to the warehouse manager and auto-generates a draft purchase order email to the supplier. A weekly summary report highlights slow-movers that should be discounted or returned.
